“I think one of the thos comments is the most foolish thing I've ever heard. Believe me I have the right to speak. I attend Lansing High School, and it is the best school around. Sure we do have a stong athletic program, but what's wrong with that?! We also have a strong musical program, and a VERY stong academic program. Everyone at Lansing is well educated. There are always those who chose to disobey the system, but there is a significantly less amount here than in other schools. Lansing does not just revolve around sports. It is one of the best schools around, and if you were smart you would think so too. I live in Moravia, and I see some people from there that have been held back 3 plus times. That rarely happens in Lansing. We have a lot of people to help struggling students. Think about it.”

“A politically challenging cummunity causes frequent management turnover. Some teachers have been there too long and probably need to be removed, yet the system does not have an effective way to deal with this problem. Overall, this is a very challenging school system which seems geared towards preparing the kids for college. Academic competition, if the kids choose to compete, is tough. The small size of the schools presents many options for after school participation, and causes teachers to actively recruit kids. The system does recognize kids that need extra help and offers many opportunities for such help, starting in the earliest years. Social pressures for kids seems about average compared to othert schools. Above average kids will probably find this a great school system, but academically challenged kids or kids who don't participate in after school events will find it socially challenging.”

“If you want to have the best possible chance of advancement for your superior performing, talented, painfully good looking, athlete, this is the place to be. If you want a good education for your average child who may have a few problems, try elsewhere. Lansing is proof that high taxes and overpaid teaching staff do no necessarily equate with success. The new M.S. principal may help turn things around. I hope so.”
